Powered Up

We have successfully raised the funds required for purchase of a solar pump and the panels to power it.  Total cost was in the range of $15,000.  The people on the ground have received enough money to purchase the pump and half of the panels, which are installed.  The money for the rest of the panels is on its way to them.  This pump will deliver water to the four fish tanks and the large irrigation head-tank. From these, the water can be delivered to any of the gardens or fruit trees on the five hectare agricultural property.

All told, we have raised a little less than $30,000 for the construction of a small, but versatile and productive fish farm to benefit families with a source of food and skills development.  For just $6,000 or so, the potential remains for doubling of the tank field and, thus, doubling of fish production.  We may revisit that possibility sometime down the road.
